Meditations On the Nature of God: God, the Wise

Here is a collection of Bible verses to be used for meditating on the nature of God and are
listed in no particular order. This is not a justification of this particular attribute of God. The
verses listed below are not all of the verses in the Bible declaring that God is wise. This
is meant for personal meditation on the attributes of God and was developed with that focus in
mind. Here, we focus on the wisdom of God.

Scripture on God’s wisdom

Prov. 8:22-23 The LORD possessed me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of old. Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth.

1 Cor. 1:25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Ps. 104:24 O LORD, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.

Ps. 119:98-100 Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts.

Is. 29:16 Shall the potter be regarded as the clay, that the thing made should say of its maker, “He did not make me”; or the thing formed say of him who formed it, “He has no understanding”?

2 Tim. 3:16-7 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

Eccles. 2:26 For to the one who pleases him God has given wisdom and knowledge and joy, but to the sinner he has given the business of gathering and collecting, only to give to one who pleases God. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.

Col. 2:2b-3 To reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

1 Sam. 2:3 Talk no more so very proudly, let not arrogance come from your mouth; for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.

Ps. 147:5 Great is our LORD, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.

Is. 44:7 Who is like me? Let him proclaim it. Let him declare and set it before me, since I appointed an ancient people. Let them declare what is to come, and what will happen.

Rom. 11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

Jer. 10:12 It is he who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens.

Prov. 3:19-20 The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens; by his knowledge the deeps broke open, and the clouds drop down the dew.

Prov. 2:6 For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

Is. 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
